What type of aeration is right for my pond?
While all three types of aeration provides valuable oxygen transfer and water agitation, there is a difference in the “look” of the systems. RAS will work with you to determine which aeration system will provide optimal function to ensure the health of your waterway as well as any visual desired.
Fountains beautify bodies of water with an assortment of spray patterns.
Surface aerators dramatically agitate high volumes of water at the surface to maximize exposure of water to the air for valuable gas exchange, greatly improving your pond or lake aeration. The agitation creates a boiling effect on the surface of the water. These aerators are installed frequently in locations where a decorative spray pattern is not desired.
Bottom Diffusers (bubblers) circulate water from the bottom of the pond to the surface. The result is a small ripple effect on the surface of the water.

RAS offers sales and installation of many varieties of fountains- from a small 1/4HP up to a 30HP! There is also a wide selection of decorative patterns our customers can choose from. Lighting packages including colored lights are also a feature that adds a dramatic visual to your waterway.
Maintenance is key when it comes to prolonging the life of a fountain and surface aerators. RAS recommends that fountains and surface aerators be removed for the winter months to prevent damage and to avoid any warranty cancellation. We offer a winterization program that includes: removal of the aerator in the fall, the aerator is cleaned, inspected for any repairs necessary, and stored in our climate-controlled warehouse, and then reinstalled in the spring.
RAS can shut down bottom diffuser systems for the winter, change air filters, and then restart and ensure they are working properly in the spring. RAS can provide maintenance and troubleshooting for certain brands of aerators.
Bottom diffusers are not required to be removed during the winter months.
